According to Apple's classification standards, products that have been off the market for more than five years but less than seven years are considered as vintage. Despite being vintage products, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will continue to offer repair services for up to two years, provided that parts are available.

After being vintage for a period of time, Apple products will be further categorized as obsolete. (Products that have been discontinued for more than seven years are considered obsolete.) Once included in the obsolete products list, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will no longer provide repairs or other hardware services.

Any of you guys using the iPhone X, the first-generation AirPods, or the first-generation HomePods? Take a look back at them together!

iPhone X

Released on September 12, 2017, the iPhone X was a huge leap forward in iPhone design and feature-set. As the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, it introduced a number of major changes, such as the removal of the home button, the adoption of a 5.8-inch OLED full screen, and the use of Face ID facial recognition system instead of Touch ID.

In addition, iPhone X utilizes the TrueDepth camera system in the "notch" to enable Animojis. It is equipped with the A11 Bionic chip, built-in Apple's first dedicated Neural Engine, which significantly improves machine learning capabilities, and supports wireless charging for the first time. Not only that, the stainless steel frame and glass back design of the iPhone X were also representative of high-end mobile phones at the time.

If the iPhone 4 series is a comprehensive revolution of Apple's cell phone, which is called as the "Steve Jobs era", then the iPhone X is a new revolution after Steve Jobs, for the "Cook era".

AirPods

The first-generation AirPods was released in September 2016, at the same time as the iPhone 7. Since the new phone did not have a 3.5mm headphone jack for the first time, Apple launched this compact Bluetooth headset. Thanks to the custom-designed W1 chip, AirPods achieves easy pairing with Apple devices, long battery life and efficient wireless connectivity.

The AirPods also equipped with optical sensors and motion accelerometers that detect the wearing status and automatically pause playback when removed. Its compact design and portable charging case set a new standard for wireless earphones, and it has been widely popular and influential in the audio accessory market.

HomePod

The original HomePod was unveiled at WWDC on June 5, 2017, with a custom-engineered high-excursion woofer and an array of seven beamforming tweeters. Powered by the Apple A8 chip, HomePod supports real-time acoustic modeling, audio beamforming, and multi-channel echo cancellation.

The built-in Siri allows users to control music playback, manage smart home devices, and access information and services through voice commands, making it one of the preferred home speakers for Apple users.

After the three products mentioned above are classified as vintage, they are going to enter the list of obsolete products in two years, at which point Apple will no longer offer any hardware services. But even though the iPhone X can only be upgraded up to iOS 16, Apple will continue to provide new version updates to fix security issues.

Now that the iPhone series has been updated to 15 generations, the new iPhone 16 is coming out in a few months, and both AirPods and HomePod have been updated once or twice. With the release of new iPhone, it's inevitable that the old ones will be slowly phased out, will you miss the iPhone X you once had?

Are there any friends who are using the above three products? Welcome to leave a comment in the comments section and discuss with everyone.
