WWDC 2024 Everything We Know So Far

Apple has officially announced that it will conduct the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 from June 10 to 14, Pacific Time. As usual, Apple will preview the next generation of operating systems at the conference, including iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11 and visionOS 2.

When is WWDC 2024 and how to watch?

Apple will hold its 35th annual WWDC 2024 keynote event from Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14. Like WWDC events since 2020, WWDC 2024 will be an online event that is free and open to all developers, which is scheduled to be held on June 10 at the Apple Park campus in California.

The same as in recent years, this WWDC keynote Apple still adopts the form of recorded broadcast, all developers and users around the world can watch it online. At the same time, Apple will also invite some developers and students to participate in the event by drawing lots.

When WWDC begins, Apple will stream the opening keynote live on its website and elsewhere, including YouTube and the Apple TV app. That means you'll be able to watch the live event on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and even your PC.

The latest rumors suggest that iOS 18 could be the biggest update to the iPhone in years, thanks to artificial intelligence. Here are the content predictions for WWDC 2024:

What to expect at WWDC 2024?

iOS 18

In a previous article, we covered iOS 18 in detail: iOS 18 Rumored Features: What to expect from iOS 18? In short, the main new features of iOS 18 that have been exposed so far include Siri and AI Improvements, Home Screen Revamp, Apple Maps Updates, and more.

Additionally, Apple has introduced a new floating sidebar in the tvOS 17.2 update and set it to be semi-transparent, just like in visionOS. This menu is expected to replace the existing one in iPadOS 18.

AI

Apple, the leader of the smartphone era, has been more than half a beat slower in the layout of the AI field. It was only after announcing that it had given up building cars that it slowly shifted its focus in the direction of AI. Recently, news has been rumored that Apple plans to introduce Google's Gemini large model for the iPhone.

Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of global marketing, said on social media: "Mark your calendars for WWDC24, June 10-14. It’s going to be Absolutely Incredible!" Interestingly, he deliberately spelled the initials of “Absolutely Incredible” in capital letters. This seems to imply that AI will be the focus of this year's developer conference. The gradient color scheme of the WWDC24 letters is also somewhat similar to Siri.

It has been widely reported that Apple is developing generative AI technology that will improve Siri, Messages app and more. AI may be integrated into Apple's operating systems including iOS 18, Apple Music, Pages, Xcode and other applications.

Possible Hardware Releases

Last year at WWDC 2023, Apple released a series of hardware, including M2 Ultra chip and MacBook Air 15, Mac Studio, Mac Pro and Vision Pro. In June this year, it is expected that Apple may release the next generation flagship chip: M3 Ultra, as well as Mac Studio and Mac Pro equipped with this chip.

While software releases at WWDC tend to get more attention, in addition to new systems, the annual WWDC will also bring us a whole new experience with the various new devices that Apple introduces, mainly iPad, Mac and other computer-related products.

Let's look forward to what surprises Apple will bring to the WWDC 2024 conference.
